The SME Green Skills HUB project aims to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in small and medium sized enterprises through VET, promoting green sectorial skills and pooling innovative approaches and digital technologies for work-based teaching and learning, including the use of Next-Generation Training Solutions and Gamification, addressed to VET teachers, trainers and mentors to provide initial and/or continuing training to SMEs staff. Based on these objectives, this Erasmus+ project has a series of priorities in line with the policies set by the EU.
Environmental and climate goals
SME Green Skills HUB aims to support, across all sectors, awareness-raising about environmental and climate-change challenges in SMEs, developing competences to implement of the Sustainable Development Goals in small and medium sized enterprises through VET. The project will develop green sectorial skills strategies and methodologies, as well as future-oriented curricula that better meet the needs of VET teachers, trainers and mentors and SMEs staff. The project will also test innovative practices to prepare learners, staff and workers to become true factors of change in SMEs, implementing the SDGs in the SMEs strategies.
Enhancing access to training and qualifications for all
The project will increase quality, supply and accessibility of continuing VET, promoting work-place learning programmes to train SMEs staff, target beneficiaries of the project. The project will promote green sectorial skills and pool innovative approaches and digital technologies for work-based teaching and learning. SME Green Skills HUB will develop also partnerships between micro, small and medium sized companies and VET providers aimed at promoting joint competences centres, learning networks, support to pooling of resources, and providing initial and/or continuing training to their staff.
Developing partnerships aimed at promoting work-based learning in all its forms
SME Green Skills HUB will develop also partnerships between micro, small and medium sized companies and VET providers aimed at promoting work-based learning programmes to train SMEs staff. The project will develop new training content and joint VET qualifications for work-based learning on implementing the SDGs in the SMEs strategies, adapting them to the context and situation within which each business operates and, therefore, creating opportunities to apply this knowledge in practical workplace situations.
The project will apply innovative WORK-BASED LEARNING APPROACHES to increase the extent to which work is learning-rich within the workplace, including encouraging people to reflect on their experience; peer guidance by other workers; demonstration and practice; simulation; and problem solving; all these techniques can be integrated with the normal cycle of work and production.
Supporting the uptake of innovative approaches and digital technologies for teaching and learning
The project will apply two innovative teaching methods, combining innovative approaches and digital technologies: NEXT-GENERATION TRAINING SOLUTIONS (NGTS) and GAMIFICATION. The project will co-design, adapt, test and implement two digital solutions for teaching learning:
(i) the IO2 Virtual Campus, a NGTS with a modern User Interface (UI) for the learner, offering high-level interactions, promoting social and active learning, enabling high-resolution formative assessment, enabling personalised experiences and offering mobile compatibility
(ii) The IO3 Mobile Assessment App, a practical and innovative ICT-based tool designed to evaluate competences on the implementation of the SDGs in SMEs through VET included in the European Framework of Reference.
Introducing systematic approaches to, and opportunities for, the initial and continuous professional development of VET teachers, trainers and mentors in both school and work-based settings
SME Green Skills HUB will develop effective digital, open and innovative education and pedagogies, as well as practical tools. The project will also contribute to the initial and continuous professional development of VET teachers, trainers and mentors with the IO1 European Framework of Competencies to implement the SDGs in SMEs, designed following European standards and frameworks of reference such as the EQF and ECVET, to meet the needs of VET teachers, trainers and mentors and facilitate the recognition of the competencies that they will acquire through the training programme provided through the IO2 Virtual Campus.
